Nobody wants to hear that their car needs to sit at a shop for three days. But not every repair can be finished before dinner, and a shop that promises "same-day everything" without seeing the car is setting you up for disappointment. Here's an honest breakdown of what typically can — and can't — get done in a single visit at our shop in Cleveland.

[HEADING] What usually gets done same-day

**Brake pads and rotors.** Front or rear brake jobs are routine work. If the parts are in stock or available from a local supplier the same morning, a standard brake replacement is commonly completed within the day.

**Oil changes and fluid services.** An oil change, coolant flush, or transmission fluid service is standard maintenance work that fits comfortably inside a normal business day.

**Battery replacement and charging-system checks.** Batteries are a quick swap once testing confirms the battery — and not the alternator or cables — is the problem.

**Wheel alignments.** A stand-alone alignment is a scheduled appointment that is normally finished the same day.

**Full diagnosis.** Our $150 full diagnosis is designed around one thing: a clear, written answer about what's wrong with your car, with parts and labor separated, before any repair work starts. Many drivers come in for the diagnosis in the morning and have a repair estimate in hand the same day.

[HEADING] What usually takes longer

**Engine or transmission replacement.** These are multi-day jobs by definition — engine or transmission removal, the replacement, and road testing can't be rushed.

**Work waiting on parts.** If a part has to be ordered rather than picked up from a local supplier, the repair waits on delivery. We tell you that up front when the estimate is written.

**Rust-related repairs on older vehicles.** Cleveland road salt corrodes brake lines, fuel lines, and exhaust hardware. On cars with heavy underbody rust, what looks like a simple repair can turn into a bigger job once a tech gets underneath — and safety comes before speed.

[HEADING] How to give your visit the best chance of finishing same-day

1. **Call ahead.** Walk-ins are welcome, but calling (216) 471-8055 lets us confirm the part is available and schedule the bay time.

2. **Describe the symptoms, not the fix.** "Grinding when I brake" is more useful than "I need pads" — it lets the tech diagnose correctly the first time.

3. **Ask for the written estimate first.** Every job at our shop starts with a written estimate, parts and labor separated. If something can be done same-day, the estimate says so; if it can't, you'll know why before you leave.

[HEADING] The honest answer

Most maintenance and common repairs get done in one visit when parts are available and the schedule allows. The jobs that take longer take longer because rushing them would mean cutting corners — and corners are what leave people stranded. We'd rather tell you the truth on day one than have your car come back on day three.

**Q: Can I book a same-day appointment?**

A: Call (216) 471-8055 and tell us what's going on. If we have the bay time and the part is available, we'll book you that day.

**Q: Does the $150 diagnosis happen same-day?**

A: The diagnosis is scheduled as its own appointment and is normally completed the day you bring the car in, with a written estimate before any work begins.

**Q: Do you offer loaners or shuttles?**

A: Ask when you book — it depends on the day's schedule.

**Q: What if my car needs more than one day?**

A: The estimate lays out the timeline before any work starts.

**Q: Where are you located?**

A: Shiloh's Auto Repair, 12200 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111.
